These bars are finished by polishing, drilling, turning, sawing, grinding, welding or chamfering.
But, why carbon steel!
Carbon steel is everywhere and is used in almost all industries. Carbon steel is reliable, easy to weld and is available at cheap prices, thus they are everywhere. Moreover, carbon steel is available in four categories that allow buyers to choose the category according to its demand and need. Low carbon steel, high, medium and last is ultra-high steel are the four categories of carbon steel.
However, there are different types of steel available such as stainless steel but usually, industrialists preferred carbon steel. Carbon steel and stainless steel bars both have a different percentage of iron and carbon. The carbon percentage in stainless steel is between 0.2-2.1 percent which may vary according to the grade of steel. Here, some other materials such as chromium, tungsten and other are added according to the purpose. These materials thus change the physical properties of steel such as tensile strength and ductility.
In carbon steel, the main alloy is carbon and other elements are not in a high percentage or even they are not defined. Thus, the carbon steel bars have a low melting point, better heat distribution, excellent durability, malleability and more.
Types of carbon steel bars
Carbon Steel bars are used in applications such as Frame construction, Home appliances, Ornamental pieces and Major works such as building construction, in commercial and domestic uses. In all such applications, different kinds of carbon steel bars are used. The varieties of bars are as follows:
Round bars- these bars are important in machining industry to create automotive components and machine parts.
Flat bars- such bars are used where the no natural elements come in contact with the bars such application are life, underground stations, and escalators.
Hexagon bars- they are used in general purpose applications and are used in construction industries where they can be used to machines carrying weight due to their good strength.
Square bars- these bars have excellent wear resistance, strength, and hardness. Industries where medium and large size components are manufactured to make use of carbon steel square bars. Machinery, equipment, and fasteners are the common applications where square bars are used.
Thus, carbon steel bars are more used and manufactured to be used in such applications.
